Bruce Croxon: The Lavalife Co-Founder

Bruce Croxon co-founded the business that became Lavalife, an online dating and personals company, and helped build it into one of the largest of its kind in North America before it was sold in 2004.

He has since worked as an investor, co-founding Round13 Capital, a fund backing Canadian technology companies that have already found their market.

From telephone personals to the web

Lavalife began in the era of telephone personals and moved onto the internet as its audience did, which gave Croxon a long view of how a consumer platform holds people through a change of technology.

Round13 put him on the other side of the table, writing cheques into companies with customers rather than into ideas, which is a distinction he presses on in the Den.

Three seasons, and a second screen

Croxon joined Dragons' Den in 2011 and stayed for three seasons; those runs are catalogued pitch by pitch on this site.

He has also worked as a business broadcaster, co-hosting The Disruptors on BNN Bloomberg, and remains a familiar voice on Canadian business television.

Note: This is his public record; a pitch outcome is reported on that pitch's own page.
