Is Cheesegeek Still in Business? (2026 Update)

Richard Hancock and Edward Simpson pitched Cheesegeek in season 19, presenting an artisan cheese subscription business built around a mobile app and direct to consumer deliveries.

The answer is no, at least not as the company that pitched on the show. Cheesegeek went into administration and was sold off in a pre pack deal in 2025, wiping out its investors, including Steven Bartlett.

What they pitched in the Den

Cheesegeek struck a deal of £150,000 for 7.5% of the business, backed by Steven Bartlett, in a pitch that aired at the start of his first series as a Dragon in early 2022.

The business rode the pandemic era boom in direct to consumer food subscriptions particularly hard, with revenue jumping from around £250,000 to £1.5 million during that period, before it began declining each year afterwards as spending patterns normalised.

Are they still trading?

No. Companies House lists The Cheese Geek Limited as in administration, and trade press reporting confirms the business was sold in a pre pack administration deal to Scotland based Albex Group for £68,329 in 2025.

By the time of the sale, Cheesegeek had accumulated combined losses of almost £3 million on total revenues in excess of £4.5 million, driven by a capital intensive direct to consumer model. Steven Bartlett was still a shareholder when the business collapsed, holding shares through his private equity firm Catena Capital, and did not recover his original investment.

Can you still buy cheese from them?

The original company that pitched on the show is no longer independently trading; it was absorbed into Albex Group through the pre pack sale rather than continuing under its previous ownership.

If you are looking for the Cheesegeek brand or products specifically, we would recommend checking directly with Albex Group for current availability, since a pre pack sale can mean a brand continues under new ownership even after the original company itself has gone into administration.

Note: Status checked July 2026; company situations change, so treat this as a snapshot.
