Is i Teddy Still in Business? (2026 Update)

Imran Hakim pitched i Teddy in season 4, presenting a classic looking teddy bear built with integrated media technology so it could play MP3 or MP4 files, an idea he came up with after being challenged by his younger brother to invent a better first birthday gift.
This is one of the harder ones to call cleanly, and we would rather say so plainly than guess. We could not confirm a current retail presence for i Teddy in 2026, despite a genuinely strong commercial run in the years after the pitch.
What they pitched in the Den
i Teddy struck a deal of £140,000 for 40% of the business, backed jointly by Peter Jones and Theo Paphitis, after Hakim, then a 29 year old optometrist, won the Dragons over with the idea.
The commercial follow through was significant: toy giant Vivid Imaginations bought the global production, distribution and marketing rights for i Teddy, and the brand reportedly reached around £11 million a year in sales at its peak, built primarily on trademark protection after a 2009 patent examination found the underlying claims were not considered novel or inventive.
Are they still trading?
We were not able to find current retail listings, an active company website, or recent news coverage confirming i Teddy is still being sold as of 2026. The most recent detailed reporting we found on its commercial performance dates back several years.
That absence of evidence is not the same as proof the product is discontinued, and we do not want to state a closure we cannot back with a source, such as a Companies House dissolution record or a retailer statement. Given the product's original strength as a licensed toy, it is entirely possible it continued selling through channels our research did not surface, or that it has quietly gone out of production without a formal announcement.
What we would need to be sure
A clear answer here would need either a current retail listing for i Teddy, an active statement from Vivid Imaginations about the licence, or a Companies House filing showing the company's current status, none of which we were able to locate with confidence.
We are leaving this one open rather than guessing in either direction, and we will update this page the moment we can point to a specific, current source either way.
