The founder behind Light Emotions pitched a range of glow-in-the-dark party and gift items, wanting £40,000 in return for a 30 percent stake, and reached an agreement with Peter Jones.

The business no longer operates.

An Easy Product To Picture On A Shelf

Novelty and party goods can make for strong studio pitches simply because investors can instantly imagine where they would sit in a shop, and a modest £40,000 request suggested a small operation still finding its feet.

Jones agreed to back it, but according to the founder, the arrangement never delivered what the business actually needed most, marketing muscle rather than capital alone, and the deal unravelled once filming had ended.

A Mismatch Between Founder And Backer

Novelty items built around impulse buying and seasonal spikes, think Halloween or children's parties, tend to live or die on distribution and marketing timed to those moments rather than the underlying gimmick itself.

Without that backing in place, and without the money either, the range never built the retail footprint a product like this generally needs to outlast its first burst of post-broadcast attention.

Where Things Stand

Official records show the company dissolved in 2012, and nothing suggests the brand carried on trading under another name.

The wider glow-in-the-dark novelty market never went away, plenty of similar products remain widely available, but this particular business and its particular backer relationship did not last.

Note: Based on the public record; company situations can change, so treat this as a snapshot.
