Paul Crawford pitched a cream liqueur made from oat milk rather than dairy, positioning it as a plant-based alternative for shoppers who wanted the classic drink without the animal product.

He asked for £50,000 against a quarter of the business, and Deborah Meaden backed the deal.

A supermarket bet that reportedly did not pay off

Press coverage says the company built up stock ahead of expected listings with two of the UK's largest grocery chains, banking on that shelf space to justify the scale of production.

When those retail arrangements are said to have collapsed, the business was reportedly stuck with product it could not sell quickly enough, a brutal and familiar failure pattern for young drinks brands that gear up ahead of confirmed demand.

What the record says

According to that coverage, the business stopped trading in the summer of 2025 and a provisional liquidator took over shortly afterward, with tens of thousands of unsold bottles left in that liquidator's hands rather than sold through normal retail.

That materially changes the picture from what a viewer of the original episode would reasonably assume, so anyone relying on an older listing or a still-live social account for this brand should treat it with real caution.

Note: Based on the public record; company situations can change, so treat this as a snapshot.
