Faizal Khan and Gary Hilman pitched a revival of the Peel P50, the Guinness World Record holder for smallest production car, rebuilt with an electric powertrain.

The company is still manufacturing and selling cars today.

The Terms

The founders asked for £80,000 for 30 percent of the business, reportedly with two cars, one of each model, included as part of the arrangement, and James Caan backed the full amount at those terms.

Caan's background across consumer and manufacturing ventures suited a founder team trying to bring a dormant heritage vehicle brand back into small scale production.

A Brand Bigger Than Any One Owner

Who actually holds the rights to the name and the tooling has changed hands more than once since the original investment, which is typical for a dormant vehicle brand passed between enthusiasts and small manufacturers over time.

What never stopped was production itself: the same tiny car, now offered with either a petrol or electric motor, updated just enough for modern roads while keeping its original proportions.

Today

Both models are still sold direct through the maker's website as factory finished cars or self-assembly kits, with no Amazon listing given the nature of the product.

Outlasting several changes of ownership, rather than any single founder still steering the exact company James Caan backed, is arguably the clearest proof that real demand was there all along.

Note: Based on the public record; company situations can change, so treat this as a snapshot.
