Known officially as Sopper Books but marketed as Sooper Books, the app pitched for a token £5 investment offering just 5 percent equity in return, a children's audio storytelling service, and every Dragon agreed to back it.

The app has grown well beyond the deal that made headlines for how small it was.

A Cheque Size Built For A Story

A near-nothing cash ask alongside real equity is a specific move: it makes it painless for every investor to agree, with the true prize being five recognisable backers and their contacts rather than the token payment itself.

All five split that £5 for the stake, reportedly the smallest cheque the show has ever recorded, while still delivering a complete panel of backers.

Millions Of Listeners And A Public Raise

Since launching in 2020, the app now reaches upward of four million households spread across more than 200 countries with unlimited, ad-free audio stories.

A Crowdcube round closed in June 2024 raised more than £335,000 against a £250,000 target, a sign that outside investors, not just users, still believe in where the business is headed years after the Den appearance.

Where To Find It

The app is available for download on iOS and Android, built entirely around subscriptions rather than a marketplace listing.

The five pound deal that once sounded like a punchline turned out to work, and in a fairly dramatic way.

Note: Based on the public record; company situations can change, so treat this as a snapshot.
