Manjit Minhas and the Beer Business Behind the Chair

Manjit Minhas is a Canadian entrepreneur best known as co-owner of Minhas Breweries and Distillery and founder of Minhas Micro Brewery.

Her portfolio of beer brands includes Mountain Crest Classic Lager, Boxer Lager and Lazy Mutt Ale, so when a food or drink founder walks in, she is reading their cost structure before they finish the pitch.

When she joined

She was announced as one of the new dragons for the tenth season in 2015, the same season that brought in another newcomer we profile separately.

Her operating background shows in the questions: she wants to know unit economics, not just enthusiasm.

The scale she operates at

Public reporting put the combined Minhas Breweries and Distillery group of companies at a reported revenue of 155 million dollars in 2014.

She has also collected recognition over the years, including Chatelaine Magazine's Top Entrepreneur Woman of the Year in 2011, which frames the manufacturing lens she brings to consumer pitches.

Note: The revenue figure is a company number from public reporting, not a personal net worth, and any pitch outcome is reported only on that pitch's own page.
