Companies House records confirm this one closed. Shampoo Heads Limited was dissolved on 16 January 2018.
Two retail Dragons, one cheque
The Bells wanted £75,000 for 20% of the business, and Paphitis and Devey split the round evenly, each writing a cheque for 10% and pairing two investors whose careers were built around getting products onto physical shelves.
That combination looked, at the time, like exactly the kind of retail muscle a small children's brand would need to break into supermarket and pharmacy aisles.
Why the shelf space didn't hold
Children's personal care sits on one of the more brutally contested shelves in any supermarket, dominated by household names with marketing budgets a small independent brand simply cannot match.
Buyers reassess which lines earn their spot on a regular basis, and a bigger competitor offering a slightly better margin can push a smaller, well-loved brand out entirely, regardless of how good the product itself is.
Confirmed closed
Companies House lists 16 January 2018 as the dissolution date for Shampoo Heads Limited, company number 07084364, roughly six years on from the Bells' appearance in the Den, respectable enough for a small consumer brand even though it never reached the decade-plus survival some other Den alumni pull off.
Any Shampooheads product still showing up for sale is old stock or a reseller's listing, not proof that a live company sits behind it, so shop it the way you would any brand that has already been discontinued.
