The Smallest Equity Deals in Dragons Den History

Not every Dragons Den deal costs the entrepreneur a huge chunk of their company. A handful of confirmed deals in our records settled at a genuinely small equity percentage, meaning the founder walked out with the investment and kept almost all of the business they built.

As with our list of the biggest equity giveaways, this only covers deals where the exact final percentage was confirmed on air.

Kerbo Charge, 6%

Mike Gordon and Ben Whittaker asked Deborah Meaden for £50,000 in return for 6% of Kerbo Charge in season 21 and got exactly that, the smallest confirmed equity share of any deal in our records.

It is also one of the deals where the final terms matched the original ask precisely, both in cash and in equity.

Puresweet, 10%

Jack Nyber asked for £75,000 for 5% of Puresweet in season 18 and ended up giving away 10%, split between Peter Jones and Tej Lalvani.

Even after the equity doubled from the original ask, it is still one of the smallest confirmed stakes given up for any deal we tracked.

Skinny Tan, 10%

Kate Cotton and Louise Ferguson asked for £60,000 for 10% of Skinny Tan in season 11 and got exactly that from Kelly Hoppen and Piers Linney.

It ties Puresweet for the second smallest confirmed equity share in our data, and matches its own original ask exactly.

Beezer, 15%

Brian Smillie and Euan McCreath asked Peter Jones for £125,000 in return for 15% of Beezer in season 16 and secured exactly that deal.

Keeping 85% of the business after a six figure investment is a strong outcome by the standards of this list.

The Snaffling Pig, 20%

Nick Coleman and Andrew Allen asked Nick Jenkins for £70,000 for 20% of the business in season 14 and got that exact deal.

It sits comfortably in the lower half of confirmed equity shares while still being one of the pitches on this whole site that we know for certain is still trading.

Igloo, 22.5%

Anthony Coates-Smith and Alistair Turner originally asked for just 8% of Igloo in exchange for £160,000, and ended up giving away 22.5% to Duncan Bannatyne and Richard Farleigh.

Even after nearly tripling from the original ask, it still lands among the smaller confirmed equity shares in our full dataset.

Note: This list only includes deals where the exact final equity percentage was confirmed on air. Many deals in our records end with the amount known but the equity split left undisclosed.
