Piers Linney: The Cloud Computing Dragon

Piers Linney trained as a lawyer and worked in investment banking before moving into technology, an unusual route to a seat in the Den.

He is best known as co-chief executive of Outsourcery, a British cloud computing and communications provider that listed on the Alternative Investment Market.

Technology, and access to it

Outsourcery sold hosted computing to businesses at a point when cloud delivery still had to be explained rather than assumed, and Linney became a frequent commentator on technology adoption among smaller companies.

He has since worked on artificial intelligence ventures and has spoken publicly about widening access to entrepreneurship and to digital skills.

Two series in the Den

Linney joined Dragons' Den in 2013 for the eleventh series alongside Kelly Hoppen, and the two of them left after the twelfth.

For those series he was the panel's technology voice, the one most likely to ask about platform cost and scale rather than about shelf space and stock.
