Tej Lalvani: The Vitabiotics Chief in the Den
Tej Lalvani
Tej Lalvani is chief executive of Vitabiotics, the British vitamins and supplements company founded in 1971 by his father, Kartar Lalvani, and grew it further after taking the top job.
Vitabiotics sells into dozens of countries and is one of the larger British owned names in the supplements market, which gave Lalvani a specific lens at the table: regulated consumer health products, retail listings and export.
A consumer health operator
Running a company whose products sit on pharmacy and supermarket shelves means dealing with regulation, formulation and the buyers who control shelf space, none of which is obvious from a good pitch.
That is the experience he brought to food, drink and wellbeing businesses, a category that turns up in almost every series of the show.
Four years on the panel
Lalvani joined Dragons' Den in 2018 for the sixteenth series, taking the seat Nick Jenkins had held, and announced in 2021 that he was leaving.
