Our read
The Hub verdict
This is the rare no-deal in our set, and it comes from the very first years of the show. Kendra Torgan asked the Dragons for £145,000 for fleece clothing accessories back in series two, 2005, and left without an investment that night. The record does not attach an equity figure to the ask, which was not unusual in those earliest episodes, so the number to focus on is the £145,000 the Dragons declined to put in.
A pass in the Den is not a verdict on a business, only on that room on that day, and plenty of rejected founders went on to build regardless. What F 8 Clothing did after walking out is precisely the sort of thing we would want to verify rather than assume.
The Dragons passed, and the full ask went back up the lift untouched.
Worth knowing: The deal above is public record from the episode. We never treat an on-air handshake as proof a product is still for sale today.
