Our read

The Hub verdict

A fully insulated cable staple is about as unglamorous as products get, which makes Deborah Meaden's solo investment at the asking terms all the more telling. David and Julie Gray sought £80,000 for 25% of Viper Clip, a £320,000 valuation, and Meaden took that stake exactly as pitched. She has a long history of backing practical, trade-facing products where the margins and the manufacturing add up, and a safer, faster cable fastener fits that mould. No equity was bargained away to close, so the Grays retained three-quarters of the business while adding one of the panel's most exacting investors. Whether the clip remains in production and on sale is a check we have not yet run.

An unshowy product that won Meaden at the full ask.
